What would be more beautiful than watching your kids reciting Qur’an to you at a young age and being called a hafiz or hafiza of the Quran? Knowledge at young age stays with the person forever so, don’t waste the first years of your child by making them sit in-front of tv’s and iPads, remember you’ll be asked about your children and it is a fact that children grow up to do exactly what they were taught when they were little. Take your kid to the nearest mosque or center that teaches Qur’an, let your kid learn how to read and recite the Qur’an and start memorizing it at a young age.
Nowadays unfortunately, people teach their kids all kinds of languages and spend thousands of dollars on their education but when it comes to Arabic, the language of the Qur’an they don’t ! Education is important I’m not saying that it’s not important but just like you spend all of your wealth over your child’s education to be successful in this dunya don’t forget to spend some of your wealth for your child education that would make him/her successful in the akhirah! It is a fact that when you know that someone is a hafiz of the Qur’an you respect that person more than you did when you didn’t know that he/she is a hafiz. The reason behind this respect is that deep down inside you wish that you had memorized the Qur’an as well and you think that it’s hard to memorize it so, you respect the person who have taken the time and effort to memorize the book of Allah.
It’s a misconception that we have that the Qur’an is hard to memorize, it is not hard, if you are very honest about your intention towards memorizing the Qur’an, if your intention is not for gaining worldly respect but instead your intention is to get closer to Allah and to be among the lucky ones who would make their parents wear a crown of noor then Allah will make it easy for you! Without this intention, you will never have any reward, rather you will be punished for doing this act of worship for someone or something other than Allaah.
Allah have stated in his Qur’an:
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ (22) سورة القمر
And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?
It was narrated that Buraydah said:
“The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
‘Whoever reads the Qur’aan, learns it and acts in accordance with it, on the Day of Resurrection his parents will be given a crown to wear whose light will be like the light of the sun, and his parents will be given garments which far surpass everything to be found in this world. They will say, “Why have we been given this to wear?” It will be said, “Because your child learned the Qur’aan.”’”
(Narrated by al-Haakim, 1/756)
The status of the one who memorizes Qur’aan will be commensurate with the last aayah he memorized.
It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “It will be said to the companion of the Qur’aan (i.e., the one who memorized and studied it): ‘Read, advance in status and recite as you used to do in the world, for your status will be commensurate with the last aayah that you recite.’”
(Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2914; he said this is a saheeh hasan hadeeth. Al-Albaani said in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, no. 2329, it is hasan saheeh. Also narrated by Abu Dawood, 1464).
What is meant by reciting here is memorizing.
It was narrated from ‘Aa’ishah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The one who recites the Qur’aan and learns it by heart, will be with the noble righteous scribes (in Heaven) and the one who exerts himself to learn the Qur’aan by heart and recites it with great difficulty, will have a double reward.”
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4653; Muslim, 798)
Guide your children show them your love for the Qur’an, read the Qur’an with them, instead of bed time stories read a surah of the Quran to them every night and explain the meaning of that surah. Invest in your akhirah more than your duniya.
